ABOUT ABOUT

Winner of the SXSW Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary, this raucous portrait profiles rock and roll icon and true wild man Ginger Baker, one of the greatest drummers in music history.

Running Time: 92 min.     Director: Jay Bulger

From Cream to Blind Faith to his work with African musical legend Fela Kuti, Ginger Baker is known around the world for his outrageous musical career. But that’s just one aspect of this complicated man. Filmmaker Jay Bulger travels to the South African home of now reclusive Baker to find a near-70 year old raconteur living with his young wife and their 39 polo ponies. After Baker breaks Bulger’s nose for “trespassing,” the two trace back over Baker’s musical odyssey to discover what brought him to this point. Featuring interviews with some of the biggest names in music history (including Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Carlos Santana, Johnny Rotten, Marky Ramone and Charlie Watts), Beware of Mr. Baker is truly one of the most fascinating rock and roll documentaries of all time.

Preceded by: Brute Force

Director: Ben Steinbauer, USA, 2012, 12 min.

In 1967 Brute Force was almost a star, but after his controversial music was shelved he had to create a new life for himself.
