In this warmhearted documentary, a personable American basketball star finds compassion, friendship and a newfound respect for women in the least likely location: Iran.
Running Time: 90 min. Director: Till Schauder
Husband and wife filmmakers Till Schauder & Sara Nodjoumi follow Kevin Sheppard, a loquacious young point-guard from the US Virgin Islands who found success as a college player but fell short of the NBA. After playing the international circuit, he is recruited by an inexperienced Iranian basketball team to help them reach the playoffs. Reluctantly, he finds himself transplanted to a culture extremely different from his own, but makes the best of the circumstances with his amiable personality. Sheppard quickly becomes a star in the Iranian Super League, but his introduction to the country’s unstable political landscape proves more difficult. Amidst dangerous protests and a divided population, Sheppard forges an unlikely friendship with three outspoken Iranian women. A captivating blend of sports and cultural issues, The Iran Job is a compelling fish-out-of-water story.
